once upon a time - chapter 1

Once upon a time, there lived a gingerbread man who dwelled in the little city of Queen's Confectionary. He was a gingerbread man cooked with the finest top-grade Pillsburied dough and icing, and had lovely dark Swiss chocolate brown eyes. Because of advantageous placing of his home near the hottest spot in all of the kingdom ( The Oven ) , the gingerbread man was constantly fresh-out-of-the-oven hot. Because of this super-deluxe exclusive house, many other pastries tried to pass themselves off as higher end Delicacies (but really, they were just Tarts) to attract his eye.

things about Yuen

1. when i'm alone at home, i like to leave doors open.

2. i'm a picky sleeper. my blanket must be specifically folded corner to corner . before my mom threw away my pink blanket, the ugly rough one was perfectly on top of it; 2" away from the sides. tiny bolster on my left, big huggy bolster on my right. two pillows in the centre of the bed; certain angle.

3. i pig out all the time.

4. i have the ability to wake up and just stare into space. all zoned out and everything. no thoughts whatsoever. i have mastered the art of stoning.

5. i go all gaga when i hear frankie j's 'obsession'. i listen to it and VE's 'oh oh oh' song all the time.

6. i have the oddest habit of rubbing my nose. like, the rounded bit. i think it evolved from the year i wore my horribly nerdy and loose red glasses. *shudder*

7. i have been feeding the dog's food to the back alley cats.

8. i still check the interact board regularly. i'm letting go VERY slooooowwwwlllyyy

the ending

yesterday was the 38th annual interact installation, in which my juniors stepped up, and my old board stepped down.

i went to school at around 1145 and helped them get ready, after handing my screwed up presentation to judith to edit. it turns out that windows movie maker does not save your photos and clips, so in order to view the movie you've made, the computer you view it on has to have the photos in it. sheesh.

so i went around kepoh-ing where i could. krys left school without me, so i couldn't curl my hair like i wanted, so i had to make do with my normal straight hair. we panicked when we couldn't get judith's powerpoint to get through the lcd, so ten minutes before we started, we decided to cancel the presentation. and i worked so hard on my first video!

so about fourty five minutes before we were scheduled to start, i went and changed into my board uniform for the *sob* last final *wail* time!

there were no hooks whatsoever in the backstage bathroom, so i had to keep opening the door after i changed into each item of clothing and handing it to anaz, who was helping me change. after that, i grabbed my make up pouch, and headed towards the teacher's bathroom, with anaz tagging after me, still holding all my things like a P.A.

after that, the guests started coming in, and even though i was supposed to be stepping down, mdm shanthy saw me and made me take care of the registration money. so i naturally did the right thing. i gave it to zalifah, the new head prefect, to keep for me. it's good practice for her.

i've been staying back to provide support and also because they were complaining a lot about getting no help. so i've been at least somewhat involved, if not very helpful. so i naturally felt panicky for them when shanthy started shouting and making sour faces. it didnt' help that some guest weren't in proper attire. i saw this fella, akbar, i think his name was, in casual clothes. mdm shanthy probably knew him quite well, becuase she suddenly turned very PR and told him in a friendly way that he should understand but he could come back for tea. hah!

the installation went well, with the handing over ceremony the most nerve wrecking for me. i was on the verge of hyperventilating for some reason, most probably because i was essentially resposible for anything to do with the seniors, and they were annoying the heck out of me by taking ten years of my life span. i had a nightmare the night before the installation where i dreamt that during the ceremony, when hte emcee would announce "Int. Chan Yuen Yee, ougoing Club service director" the whole hall would fall silent and just stare at me.

thank god that didn't happen

in fact people actually cheered for me. well, at least the interactors did. okay okay, the juniors!! so i was totally emotionally balanced until sumithra mouthed at me "the last minute" refering of course, to my last minute as club director. then it was my turn to pin the badge on su rynn, my sucessor. i actually started tearing. damn it! thankfully, the pictures which zalifah took don't show.

i got a lovely large bouquet of flowers and lollipops. i even got a compliment from a guy saying my bouquet was damn cool. hah! unfortunately, i forgot to take out the leftovers of my name cards, so i didn't hand them out, so i think i'll just give it to my juniors, who apparently have a hobby of collecting name cards even though they already know all the details on it. how odd.

after that, i stayed back to hand out my orange sherbet sweets which i bought as a congratulations gift for the incoming/ newbies.after dropping su rynn of at her house, i went home to prepare for the board dinner at california pizza kitchen at klcc, where it is tradition for the new board to treat the old board to dinner.

i picked up su rynn and sumithra at about seven, and we all squashed in the back seat with my mom, me and my sis. we arrived early and because su rynn hadn't had a proper meal for the whole day, we went to dunkin donuts and had two donuts each per person. i had a strawberry frost *yum* and a vanilla (sugary goodness), while smiley su had a happy. sumi had her usual dose/fix of chocolate.

we then headed off to cpk, and got the private room. i totally felt like a celebrity walking to the private room, with the rest of the people at the restaurant just looking and turning to see who the big group of gorgeous gals were! haha! then we took loads of photos, and chatted till klcc started to close. we ordered desert, and my table shared it. it was oozing vanilla and chocolate goodness!! unfortunately, i dripped caramel fudge chocolate onto my brand new topshop halter top, so in order to stop embarssing myself and dirtying it any further, i took one of the serivettes and tucked it into my top. sort of like a bib. sumithra found it very funny for some reason......

then we went home and i changed, and after my sister switched off the lights, and i was staring at the picture of the whole group of us, old board and new board, it really hit me then.

it was the last day i was ever the Club service director. i was no longer an interactor. and as i looked at all the faces i have come to know well through out my time proudly sporting the interact logo, i couldn't help but remember a comment made earlier by mdm shanthy, the teacher advisor of interact.
as she was walking towards her car, Shanthy saw me and remarked, "this girl ah, can never leave interact!"

and you know what?

i couldn't agree more.

Hot Stuff!!

Red alert! red alert!

One Utama has the hottest guys! like.. FRIED EGGS!! If you don't believe me, you can at least believe Kareen. Check out her blog.

A whole group of friends (Kareen, Anaz, Francine, Cheryne, Rachel, May, and Mei Ling) and me went out to One U to celebrate Anaz's birthday in advance on Sunday. So we went, and hung around Times, and when we walked past, i heard this excited whisper from one of them behind me, and heard " Look, down there!" so naturally, being the K.P.C. that i am, i looked down, and a vision of hunkness took my breath away.

This fella who was one of these rock-climbing attendants had gorgeous hair; it was long-ish and curly and just a hint of light brown. Oh, and he was pretty cute too, but to tell you the truth, i was more attracted to the hair. I'm weird that way..

So after that, we went checking out the booths. The booths are always the best because they have cheaplak brand stuff, but it's of good quality (most of the time) and it's cheap! so we came upon this shop, who was manned by another Hot guy with Super Hot Hair. for a while, i thought i was seeing Rock Dude's twin. Definitely Fried egg material! His booth was selling belts, and a whole rack of them were going for RM 9! It would be sacrilege to pass up such a bargain, so i allowed myself to splash out on a white belt. La!! The booth is somewhere on the second or third floor. New Wing.

Then came the Question : where to go for lunch?

we went around rather 'sesated' and finally went into Seed cafe. as soon as we sat down though, we decided to eat somewhere else, so we got up and left five minutes after being seated. Mei Ling and I were the first ones to get out under the pretext of "going to the toilet, ya.. Going. To. The TOILET". Kareen was the last to get out, so it was more embarassing for her. Haha!!

We finally settled on Chilli's, but had to be put on the waiting list for about half an hour. so we milled around, then we ordered lunch. I had a margarita chicken and citrus prawns, along with pickings from other people's plates like Kareen's Prawn Alfredo (which i made her order for me, so i wouldn't be too glutton-y) and half a southwest sling (which is like some tropical fruit thing) and the rest of them slurped the other half up. we then prdered dessert, which was absolutely De-li-cious! Kareen and anaz ordered their Molten cake and i had my plain Brownie and Vanilla ice cream. Mei Ling took my cherry, but i had a fun time polishing off my lovely humble brownie and vanilla ice! ho ho ho!

Then we went and checked out Rock Dude. He even chatted us up and told us that they were opening up a rock climbing centre near GSC, and 'hoped to see us there'. yeah, we're totally there all the time now! then i went into this clothes shop with anaz and Fran, and when i came out, Mei Ling , Kareen, and cheryne were Flirting with him like so obviously!!!!

Then we went to Topshop where we all tried on the same type of Halter top, but in various colours. May said i looked sweet in the white one that i wore, so i bought it despite the RM 53 price tag to wear for my Board dinner.

Then went to Sasa, and bought a set of make up brushes, and some eyeshadow in red. after that, i went home and was so full, i didn't really try with dinner. tragic, but not really. i kept thinking of my lovely lusty dreamy brownie.

event of the day : stayed back at school to help them with their install, and it turns out that i had no transport home, so i kept sucking up to the juniors and going *sweet voice* "(insert name of junior), where do you live ahhhh?"

Girlfriends - part 2

time to continue! the girl on the far right is Chien Hwei, or Hwei for short. She's the new president and has the strangest sense of humour. who can ever forget the xxl m&m throwing incident? hahaha! she's our new Interact president, and i'm glad it's her. i can't think of anyone else in her place. She's sweet and funny and won't take any of your crap, so don't even try pissing her off. Hwei is also the cutest poser of you can catch her in the right mood. HAHA.

next to her is Zalifah, one of her debating team people. Zalifah is like your typical over-achiever. She's an experienced debator, running for head prefect and is always the 'responsible' one. HAHA. These two hang out a lot together during Lit Meetings, so i only thought it appropriate that they should be together!

Another is Lee Quin, who sits next to me in Moral. She's fun to sit with, cause she likes to tease Kareen. It's always fun to tease Kareen. ho ho ho. I can't upload Lee's photo here, but you can see check out her blog and other photos in my previous blogs. Lee is super brainy. i still remember she's always the nerdy teacher's pet ever since primary school. She's still an over achiever la. Much like Zalifah. HO HO HO!!

Interact

I had a total mental double take when i discovered that i haven't written about the thing i LOVE most. INTERACT. oh, come on! you knew it was only a matter of time before i started on AGAIN about it. ho ho ho!

For the uninitiated or simply those who i have not preached to yet, Interact is a service club that.. well, serves the school and community while having loads of fun! seriously, Interact has been the most major part of senior school life. American schools have cheerleading as the most popular club. We have clubs that serve the community and school. sucks to them. haha!!

I joined Interact in form three. that would make me an Interactor for two and a half years. never have i wished for more school time just so i could stay on. I don't think i've ever been more dedicated to anything else in my whole life. i actually feel a tugging at my heart strings as i am writing this now.

words cannot describe the elation i felt when i was elected; nor can it describe the total feeling of insecurities and bitterness i felt when i found out my own members were calling me bi*** behind my back. oh wait, words just described it.

it's been a wonderful year, and i would not change a single bit of it, not even the few embarassing moments like the time i tripped while going onstage, and when i messed up the Interact song on Installation day, or when my flower bud fell off and rolled around on stage. Yep. Wouldn't change a thing.

Interact has changed me in so many ways, i do not even know where to begin. For starters, you only have to look and compare my form three class picture and my current photos. Thank God for contacts. I was/am a total geek, but at least i embrace it now because i look *better* if not nice.

It's going to be so sad on my stepping down day, ( i still don't know what to call it. de-install?? ) i just know i'm going to cry.i already did for our last General Meeting, (although i still maintain it wasn't exactly crying, it was more like.. leaking.)so why not my de-install day? It's going to be another super emo-day for me, seeing all those juniors that i've come to see as my own personal slaves. joking joking! haha, really, i've gotten quite close to some of my juniors, and i'm really going to miss them all. *sniff sniff*

i'm going to miss everything, from morning meetings with Shanthy, chatting with the juniors ( and bullying them.. but i can't now, cause they're already freshies. humph ), to putting up notices on the board.

oh well. there's always rotaract!

Viva la Interact,

Girlfriends - part 1

i feel absolutely wretched right now. i have just found out i failed to get my Grade 8 theory certificate by a horrible measly four marks. this sucks. but because i have such wonderful friends who have attempted to cheer me up, albeit unsuccessfully, i will dedicate today's blog to my dear girl friends.

first up on the left with me is Anaz. short for Anazthasya, Anaz is proud of her Chinese-indian parentage, and has formed the CIA ( Chinese Indian Association) with her good friend Cheryne. they currently have a membership of two people. themselves. Anaz is very amusing during Moral lessons. she asks odd questions. will also lend you gorgeous dresses when you need them. Anaz is super hyper at times and will greet you every morning with a super bright shiny smile.

This is Kareen, the emcee you've probably seen loads of times. she also happens to be a very competent debater. She has a fetish for body shop products, and keeps a blog of her own. check it out. Kareen can be brutally honest sometimes, but she has a heart of gold. you'll probably see her in the future doing some super bombastic research work or owning a spa resort where she really will have her own little jacuzzi. hahaa.. right, and she's like.. super smart and super responsible, and she ( and the whole of her class) loveesss their class teacher. apparently her mom makes really cool absolutely to DIE for chicken sandwiches! but i wouldn't know because i've never had the opportunity to eat one because they're always gone before i can even see one.

Francine is the one in the middle. She sits next to me in class, and therefore has to endure me everyday she comes to school. no wonder she skips school a lot.. Francine is a totally chun-ted babe, who has guyS chasing after her, and has really cool clothes. although she's the only kid at home, Francine is so not spoilt. even i'm more spoilt than her, and i have to contend with my dog for attention. also on her way to becoming a teacher's pet. haha
